Clady v Thomas Davis
Thomas Davis Under 8’s upward trend continued with a fine performance away against Clady last Tuesday night with the Thomas Davis lads hitting some excellent scores from play & frees. Martin McKinley improves with every game registering 2-01 on the night. Calum Bradley also continues to impress with great defensive work and the ability to take a score with 5 scores in total. In midfield Rudi Fallone & Shae Gray also improve with every game winning vital possession & laying off good ball to their team.
In the forwards Toni Fallone, Jenson Lee, Dylan Gray & Comhghall Quinn all worked hard to create scoring opportunities & in defence Ryan Byrne impressed alongside Conall Havern & Nela Lesniak who all put in a great shift with some great moves showing all the skills learned on the training field. Played over 3 periods each player got a chance to play in goals, defence, midfield & forwards.

Thomas Davis Corrinshego v Madden
The last league game of the season for our young players before the league split was a tough examination at this level. Thomas Davis took on the table toppers Madden and more than matched their opponents for 25mins until 2 late goals at the end of the first half forced some heads to drop and Madden eased away to another win to claim the southern title. After winning their opening fixture, this young Thomas Davis team have found the going tough and with the split in the league it is hoped that they can compete at their level, starting with a home again against Clann Eireann on Tuesday night. Some newly registered players from local school St Malachy's started their first game against Madden and their presence has freshened the squad. In fact it is the younger players who have been leading by example this year, with the likes of Caolan Mallon and Junior Marron getting on the score board v Madden, even though half forward Jonjoe Cranney and Matthew Dowdall scored a brace apiece in the first half.
The away side in the end celebrated the win but there are many games yet to come and great to see so many new lads now playing at the club.
Line up was as follows:
Dean Sheridan, Niall Taggart, Matthew Dowdall, Sean Dowdall, Jarlath Jennings, Conor Lenagh, Brendan McLoughlin, Tiarnan Hanna, Jonjoe Cranney, Matthew Taggart, Karl Treanor, Ronan Casey, Glenn Murray, Bradley Murray, Ethan Casey, Jamie Gaskin, Junior Marron, Caolan Mallon, Joshua McAteer, Adam Coughlan and Christopher O'Hare.

Thomas Davis GFC 6-15 Middletown GFC 2-10.
On a glorious Thursday evening in our adopted home of St. Pauls High School Bessbrook our own Under 16 warriors played a championship quarter final against Middeltown GAC. Throughout the years this has always been the two teams that have shared league and championship honors. However on this beautiful Thursday evening David Lenaghans young men came through with flying colours to win 6-15 to 2-10. Right from the throw in team captain Declan Loye rose like a salmon, caught the ball, soloed and delviered a pin point pass to Caolan Marron who dispatched a goal into the corner to stamp their authority on the game.
Wave after wave of attack came from our boys built on by great work in midfield from Dean Fallon. With 10 minutes played our boys were leading by 8 and after a brief spell from the opposition the boys put their shoulder to the wheel with a work rate that could be not be matched.
The full-back line superbly marshalled by fullback TJ Hughes stood tall and firm constantly tharwting anything that came their way. When any team wants to raise their game its usually their captain who leads by example and in Declan Loye (3-05) Thomas Davis GFC has a player of the highest calibre. Declan effortlessly killed the game as contest before half-time with a scintillating a goal and a wonder point from a sideline ball, indeed his overall performance was breathtaking and inspiration to teammates. Entering the 2nd half leading 2-07 to 1-02 Middletown scored a goal and 3 points to what seemed like a revival. However Niall McShane and U14 captain Brendan McLoughlin regrouped stemming the flow and began to dominate once more.
Then the Caolan Marron (2-06)show began, constantly giving nightmares to full backs scoring points and goals with such ease. Our young men always had a second gear and with the defence on top and forwards bombing through we finished with another Loye wonder goal. Over the last two games Ryan Gray has filled in as a Goal Keeper putting the team first and his ability to read the game mixed with his precision kickouts has been like finding a new diamond. This team is full of young men who give their all and work hard. Conor Jennings finally found his shooting boots (1-02), Calum Kilcoyne's (0-01) workrate and Karl Tranior passion make this group a joy to watch. Plus an another highlight for the club is Matthew Taggart making his U16 debut stepping up for the night from U14 level.
The boys comfortably won 6-15 to 2-10 but its the work rate and team first attitude that really stood out. Hopefully now this group will make this a fourth U16 title in row, although no finals are won yet surely this must be aim for them.
After being interviewed after the game team manager David Lenaghan praised his teams work rate and passion. David also was delighted to see so many club members at the game and hopefully continue to support us throughout the year. In 5 years time most of these young warriors will be gracing the pitches of the Dorans Hill Development, so indeed the future is bright both on and off the field.
Our U16 boys continue to train every Sunday morning @10.30am at the club grounds. New members welcome. Contact David Lenaghan Tel. 07707177360. Weekly subs £2 per child.

Under 16 Girls / Peil na mBan Faoi 16
On Thursday past the u16 girls travelled to Mullabrack . The girls started brightly and both teams traded scores. The Thomas Davis girls were winning a lot of ball round the middle with Leah McLoughlin and Dearbhla Kearns dominating midfield. The forward line was being led by Nicole McCann who was winning every ball that came her way and the Thomas Davis girls were rewarded when Leah McLoughlin scored a fine goal.
This brought the teams level and it stayed that way until half time. On the restart Mullabrack eventually gained the upper hand and finished really strong to run out worthy winners. This was a tough game for the girls but they battled admirably against an established team. Special mention must go to Hanna Mullholland, Danielle McClorey, Nicole McCann, and Aoife Millar who all had great performances and especially Millie Kinney who was outstanding in nets. Well done girls!
