Craobh Rua Seniors
All Saints Ballymena 2- 6 Craobh Rua Camlocha 3-12
Our Ulster League journey continues after what was a hard earned win over a Ballymena side that were very aware that the winners on the day would progress to the playoff stages. After a battling first half Craobh Rua went in two points down with all to do having been reduced to fourteen men. The turning point came in the second half when after a weaving move involving a number of players wing forward Paul Cunningham threaded a well placed ball through the defence and into the Ballymena net. From two points down Craobh Rua found themselves one point in front.
The All Saints keeper then had the misfortune after a very lengthy puck out to find the Craobh Rua centre half back and from all of ninety metres Fiachra Bradley landed it back over the Ballymena bar. In the space of two minutes the course of the game had changed and Craobh Rua were in buoyant form. With some great displays from Davey Trainor in nets, Miceal Garvey in defence, Ryan Lundy playing in corner forward and scoring from the most difficult of angles, along with Mícheál Bradley who notched up some 1-7 and Jay Ó Hare who had a fine game in forwards the Craobh Rua team pulled together for a hard earned victory.
Under 10s, 12s and 14s
Under 10 members of Craobh Rua took part in the Ulster Indoor Hurling Blitz at Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt, Co. Derry.
They played against St. Enda's Glengormley, Brid Og Belfast, and Sean Tracey's Lurgan.
They had two good wins against St. Enda's and Brid Og. The first game against Sean Tracey's was very competitive but the Lurgan men had the upper hand in the final game, dominating the scoreboard. In all their games, the Croabh Rua team played with great commitment, and courage. They executed the skills of blocking, lift, striking on the ground and in the air, and took some great scores, along with some big defensive clearances. It was a great start to the year, and hopefully the boys will build on this for the forthcoming season.
