Senior hurlers from Craobh Rua Camlocha recently presented local Councillor Declan Murphy with a token of their appreciation for his support to their team and helping with the clubs community based activities.
He was given a Club Top after attending a recent senior hurling training session.
The Craobh Rua team in December 2021 created history by being the first ever Armagh hurling side to win the Ulster Junior Club Championship. The captain of that history making team Micheal Doran said “Declan played a major role in coordinating our celebration after that historic win.
"We had an unforgettable night in Camloch village sharing our win with all the community and we wanted to thank Declan for his work in organising that event in particular. We are happy that we finally have done so .”
The Craobh Rua hurler continued “Our club was founded on strong community values and Declan as a local Councillor has quietly but resolutely supported all our efforts to develop our relationship with the wider community."
Cllr Murphy has been involved in Halloween Fireworks Displays, stewarding at Fundraising events such as ‘The Hooley Around Cooley’ and he is one of the lead coordinators in the Pieta ‘Darkness into Light 2023’ Early Dawn Walk which takes place on Saturday May 6th in Derramore Forest Park.
Doran added "We deeply appreciate his support for us and we know he will wear our Club top with pride”.
