Write a commentThirty five young hurlers followed in the footsteps of mythological Irish hero Cu Chulainn and legendary hunter and warrior Finn Mc Cumhail when they attended the Craobh Rua Camlocha Summer Activities Week. They climbed Slieve Gullion the mountain of magic, myth & romance and listened to Local Tour guide Des Murphy as he give them an informed history of the mountain and many of the wonderful stories about it.
Slieve Gullion (Sliabh gCuillinn) is the heart of the Ring of Gullion and is the highest point in the County of Armagh, with an elevation of 573 metres (1,880 ft). At the summit is a small lake and two ancient burial cairns, one of which is the highest surviving passage grave in Ireland. The mountain plays a prominent role in the mythology and history of the area and dominates the countryside around it, offering views of as far away as Antrim, Dublin Bay and Wicklow.
