Armagh were fortunate to leave with their very first Division Two win in the Allianz National Football League against Longford on Saturday night in the Athletic Grounds.
A thrilling first half saw Armagh go in at half time with a lead of 2:5 to 1:5 thanks to a goal and a point from returning Jamie Clarke and a second goal minutes later from Stefan Forker. Jamie certainly seemed to add a steadying influence on the team as a whole selflessly contributing to many of Armagh's scores.
The second half was a different type of game though, one that was littered with many poor shots, loss of possession and wides from both sides. Thanks to another goal from Armagh's Tony Kernan five minutes from time Armagh managed to to hang on and win the game with two points to spare despite several Longford comebacks.
Final Score Armagh 3:8 Longford 2:9
