NIA Live Series Dublin
Three Athletes travelled down to the National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown, Dublin on Tuesday evening for the current indoor track and field series.
Meadow McCauley and Gary Crummy both competed in the 800m races.
Meadow ran consistently in her 800m heat. With this being her first 800m race of the season, she evenly paced her 200s looking very comfortable throughout. Meadow unfortunately got blocked by another athlete in the last 100m preventing her from making a final pass but she still was very pleased with a time of 2:29:09.

Gary Crummy took on his debut 800m Race. With no race tactics in mind Gary went off the start line at top speed. At the lane break he was in the lead two of which he maintained 2nd position until the 3rd lap where he was temporarily pushed to 3rd. However, coming into the last 200m of the race, Gary dug into his energy reserves and hit the booster. He powered his way back into 2nd place and headed for the heels of the lead runner. Gary came over the line in 2nd place with a fantastic time of 2:01:84.
Joanne McCauley took on 3 events as she prepares for the Masters Track Pentathlon and Individual Season. First up was the 60m. She had a slow block start reaction but still managed a fair time of 9:14. Next event was the High Jump where she jumped 1:30m and was pretty happy as this was her first time jumping since August. Her final event of the evening was the 200m and again had a poor block reaction start but managed to complete her heat in 2nd place in 31:34. Again, all benchmarks for training as she works towards the National Indoor Masters in March and outdoor Irish Pentathlon in May.
Armagh Parkrun
Meadow and Joanne McCauley took on the hilly Armagh Parkrun on Saturday morning as their weekly training run. Meadow had a good run finishing first Female in a course PB time of 22:20. Joanne followed over the line in 25:52.
NI Orienteering Score Championships
Parkrun was a warmup on Saturday for Meadow and Joanne as they headed to Seskinore Forest, Co. Tyrone for the NI Orienteering Score Championships. In deteriorating weather and challenging forest terrain Meadow lifted her age class title and trophy.
Mountain Trail Training
Training on the mountain trails continued this week with three separate excursions.
On Friday, Esther Dickson and Rory Mulvaney paid a visit to the mystical gradients of Slieve Gullion.
Meanwhile on a calm Saturday morning Paul LeBlanc, Aidan Murray, Cathal McGreevy and Ciara Coffey followed the Dan White’s course.
The extra long run from Bloody Bridge back to Rostrevor was left to the Ultra
