Under the watchful eye of her field coach Geraldine Finegan she continued her consistent field performances and was rewarded with a Gold in the High Jump.

In long jump, Joanne just missed out on Bronze to settle with a 4th.

Joanne competed and performed strongly in both the 200m and 400m. There was a large field of highly competitive Irish athletes in both races.

She has finished her debut track season with a satisfying collection of Irish and Ulster medals in field and track. A fantastic benchmark of PBs has now been established for Club Coach Kookie O’Hagan to help Joanne train and beat in 2019.

Saturday 18th August- Dambusters 5k & 10k, Silent Valley

Ciara Coffey and Sarah Jane Beattie attended the Dambusters 10k and 5k Race in the beautiful setting of Silent Valley.

Ciara Coffey who has been successfully consistent this year on the 10k circuit continued this trend. Ciara won the Female race in a time of 41:33 and was 12th position overall.

Sarah Jane Beattie took on the 5k which incorporates road and trail and came home strongly with 4th Female in a time of 22:41 and 13th overall - just missing out on the 3rd female spot by 29 seconds.

The success of the Newry AC athletes in Track & Field, Trail, Mountain and Road is a huge credit to Coach Kookie O’Hagan. His respected tough training schedules and the commitment to train by the athletes is paying performance dividends.

With the Cross Country season now encroaching- Kookie’s coaching sessions are now going to be even more challenging for all the athletes to build on their strength and endurance.
