Newry AC's Esther Dickson gave an utterly dominant display in the savage hills around Kilbroney Park, to win the second NIMRA race of 2018 on Saturday.

Conditions were bright and sunny, apart from round the back of the mountain in the shadows, where one poor Marshal was billeted for the duration, in the biting cold at check-point 3!
Such was Esther's performance, 1:25.58, that she would have been 10th in the mens race. It is no wonder that the popular lady, a local chicken farmer and mother of three, was totally unchalleged. Two out of two at this early stage of the mountain running season. Kookie O'Hagan her coach could not have asked for much more!
It was a triple delight for Kookie. He coaches Seamus Lynch, the athlete who won the mens race in 1:10.58, this was a closer result, with Willie McKee (Mourne Runners) only 15 seconds behind. And Paul Le Blanc (Newry AC), an old friend of Kookie, won the MV55 category with a time of 1:27.47.
Adding to the success stalwart, Cathal McGreevy was 3rd MV50. Ronan Mynes was 4th MV45 and Noel Carr was 10th MV40.
The club also had cause for celebration with Meadow McCauley running a time of 2:29:93 for 800m in the Irish Life National Juvenile Championships in Athlone at the weekend, taking nearly 3 seconds off the time she ran a month ago.
