Newry City Athletic Football Club are seeking a manager for their first team, following the resignation of their Manager Gary Boyle on St Stephen's Day after their 4:0 defeat to Glenavon. Boyle has only been in the position since May 2023 when he replaced Darren Mullen although he had been Mullen's assistant for a number of years.
Speaking to the BBC after the Glenavon game Boyle said "I'm really disappointed that it hasn't worked out. I've been here a long time and enjoyed some good times, some tough times but within the tough times the club has never turned on their own and I've felt over the last couple of months there's been a lot of stuff directed obviously at me but it's now seeping on to the pitch and the players and I think for the betterment of the club, to try to galvanise it again that maybe there's a new figurehead needs to come forward."
Until the new managers position is filled the first team will be handled by assistant manager, Damien Hillen.
In a post on their website the club invites expressions of interest for the position of first team manager. Essential criteria states that the candidate must have at least a valid UEFA A Licence.
