Newry Hitterz have been crowned champions of the Newry Outdoor Cricket Championship, Season 2 2026, after a one-run victory over Kandam Kali Warriors (KKW Ireland) in the final. The tournament was held at Three Ways Community Centre 19 September 2026 and featured eight teams competing throughout the day.
The teams taking part were NCC, Newry Hitterz, Belfast Vikings, Royal Eagles, KKW Ireland, ARDS, Eagles Belfast and Northern Warriors. In the knockout stage, Newry Hitterz defeated Belfast Vikings by six wickets, NCC overcame Northern Warriors by six wickets, ARDS beat Eagles Belfast by nine runs and KKW Ireland defeated Royal Eagles by seven wickets.
Newry Hitterz then beat NCC by seven wickets in the first semi-final, while KKW Ireland overcame ARDS by seven wickets in the second semi-final to set up the final. The decider went down to the wire, with Newry Hitterz securing victory by a single run.
Sarath Sathyan of Newry Hitterz was named Man of the Match and also took the Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Man of the Series awards. Newry Hitterz captain Jijo Mathew and vice-captain Jiso were also recognised, with their leadership and commitment credited with guiding the team to tournament success.
Newry Hitterz received £444 in prize money, a permanent trophy, medals and the Winners' Ever-Rolling Trophy. Runners-up KKW Ireland received £222, a permanent trophy, medals and the Ever-Rolling Trophy.
The tournament was organised by the Newry Cricket Club Committee, led by President Moncy Ninan, with Vice President Joemon Joseph, Secretary Vipin Kumar, Joint Secretary Anu R Nair and Treasurer Shijo Antony.
The organisers thanked all participating teams, players, volunteers, supporters and sponsors, with particular thanks extended to the Promoting Wellbeing Division, Newry, Mourne and Down, Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Adri Ventures, Castle Sports World, Samosa King Cafe Belfast, Zion Mortgage, Elegant Party Planners, Redbox Kitchen, Gabriella's Street Bites & Caterers, Colin CRB Professional Bat Repairs & Quality Bats, Noor Foods Newry, Spice India and Newry Indian Arts Club.
The day was a celebration of cricket, friendship, teamwork and sportsmanship which created memorable moments both on and off the field.
