Write a commentThe new Ballyholland Community Centre was the venue for the 2015 Newry Ladies Netball Club end of season presentations last week.
The presentations were a celebration of the players and teams both at Junior and Senior level.
Junior club manager Maeve Murray detailed the club achievements over the last year which included both Junior teams promotion to the prestigious A League divisions in Northern Ireland. Player representatives from the club were also dominant throughout Northern Ireland squads with six players named on U13 Southern Regional Development Academy, eight players named on U15 Southern Regional Academy and seven named on U19 SELB Schools squad. U15 and U19 level players won Silver Northern Ireland medals in their respective national competitions.
The Senior team had a very successful season completing the double as they won both the Northern Ireland Clubs’ Southern League and the Northern Ireland Plate. This is the first time in the club’s history and is a testament to the hard work and commitment of club members. Acknowledgments were made for the tremendous support of parents and volunteers with the club.
Special thanks to Jacqueline O’Gorman and Ann McParland for their substantial efforts throughout the year. Recognition was also given to Nicola O’Gorman and Zara Powell for organisation of the event. Tributes were also made to Senior Team Manager Nicola Sloan and Junior Team Manager Maeve Murray as well as Active Communities Coach Gemma Hamilton.
The club will host a fundraising evening on Thursday 27th August in Canal Court Newry and would welcome support from the Newry and Mourne Community.
