Write a commentNine times All Ireland Poc Fada Champion Brendan Cummins launched his autobiography titled “Standing my Ground” last Thursday in The Dome, Semple Stadium, Thurles.
Commenting on achievements of Brendan, Camlough man Pat Mc Ginn travelled to Thurles to attend the Book launch said "During my involvement with An Poc Fada Craobh na hÉireann I got to know Brendan and his family. Brendan has been a loyal supporter and promoter of this unique hurling contest which takes place on Annaverna Mountain, Ravensdale, Cooley County Louth and he is a worthy Champion, a true heir to Cú Chulainn himself".
Damien Callan Chairperson of the local Coiste of An Poc Fada also attended the launch as did Martin Donnelly sponsor of the All Ireland hurling contest.
The former Tipperary goalkeeper retired from senior intercounty hurling in 2013, having racked up 73 championship games in the blue and gold, an all-time record. Cummins also made 16 championship appearances for the Premier County’s senior footballers.
Standing My Ground charts the rise of the two-time All-Ireland senior hurling medallist from his home in Ardfinnan to the heights of Croke Park on All-Ireland final Sunday, and all of the major challenges in between.
