Write a commentThe annual Armagh Down Cycling Club (ADCC) charity event took place yesterday Sunday 28 April. The event has fast become one of the most popular events in the local cycling calendar with over 250 participants signing up for the cycle, the largest attendance to date. With Surefreight Ireland committing to match all funds raised on the day, it will also be a record breaking event in terms of money raised.
All funds raised are being donated to Friends of The Cancer Centre, based at the heart of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, the charity funds life-saving and life-changing projects and it has already put £1.2 million back into local cancer services.
After a drizzly start, participants were rewarded with a dry and settled day, with food stops in Jonesborough and back in Newry. Feedback from attendees at the event was extremely positive, many looking forward to next years event already.
ADCC Chairman, Benny Smyth commented: ‘Events like these take a lot of effort to organise, and in addition to our own members, their families and our sponsors, it wouldn’t be possible without the support of Newry Shamrocks Social Club, ABP, Jonesborough Pastoral Centre, and Bridge End Bikes – just to name a few’.
