Our senior men earned a well-deserved seven-point win over Clonmore in Camlough on Saturday evening, 1 – 15 to 0 – 11.
With less than two minutes on the clock Clonmore were reduced to fourteen men when they had a man sent off for striking and from the resulting free-kick David McCabe put the Shane’s in front. However, Clonmore registered the next four points, one from a free, before Ryan Quinn replied for the Shane’s with a well taken score. A fifth Clonmore point was quickly cancelled out by a Paul O’Rourke free which was followed up by a Mark McCabe point to leave just one between them. The sides the swapped points with O’Rourke again on target for the Shane’s with a placed ball before Ciaran Mackin won possession in the middle of field and played a great ball to Mark McCabe who took on the Clonmore defence, rounded the keeper and rifled the ball to the back of the net. The Shane’s led by two at this stage and David McCabe made it three just before the break to the see the home side three to the good at the interval, 1 – 6 to 0 – 6.
Both sides registered early second points with Neil Paul Lennon slotting over for the Shane’s before Ciaran Mackin fired over from long range to keep the scoreboard ticking over for the Camlough side. A Clonmore free kept them well in the game and just three points behind but the Shane’s got the next three scores, all from placed balls, to give them a six-point advantage, with Paul O’Rourke slotting over a free and Kristian Magill landing two monster 45’s. However, Clonmore refused to lie down and they responded with the next three scores to get themselves right back into the contest. None- the- less it was the Shane’s who finished the game the stronger side and scored four unanswered points with the McCabe brothers, Mark and David, getting one apiece before Paddy Maughan ghosted in at the back post to flick the ball over the bar and Paul O’Rourke rounded-off the scoring with a late point to leave the final score 1 – 15 to 0 – 11 in favour of the Shane’s.
The result was not the only positive note for the lads on Saturday night, the game also saw Peter O’Brien return to the ranks following a couple of years away and the form of young Patrick Garvey in the full-back line will also please the management.
Next up for the senior men is an away game against Tullysaran next Friday night.
Senior Ladies
Some of our senior ladies had a very eventful Sunday morning kayaking at the East Coast Adventure Centre as part of a team building exercise and by all accounts everyone had a great morning’s craic. Training continues this week on Monday and Wednesday evening at 7.15pm.
U14 Girls
Next Thursday evening, 21st June our U14 girls play Mullaghbawn in the Championship final at 7.30pm in Silverbridge. The girls and their management have been working hard over the past few weeks and will train again on Tuesday evening from 5.45pm – 7.00pm. We wish them all the very best of luck for Thursday night and everyone is encouraged to come along and show the girls your support.
U10 Blitz
Next Saturday sees the club host its annual U10 blitz and with over 20 teams taking part it promises to be a great day. It will also be a very busy day and anyone available to lend a hand is more than welcome to come along to the club next Saturday morning to help out.
Meabh O’Neill’s Camogie Club
The Meabh O’Neill’s camogie club would like to thank everyone who contributed to their recent bucket collection in Camlough which saw them raise a total of £604.00 and €84.00.
Annual Golf Classic
This year’s annual Golf Classic will take place on Saturday 28th July at Cloverhill Golf Club. This year’s competition will take place in association with the Confucius Institute and will take the form of a 3-Ball Scramble at a price of £75.00 per team. The winners will collect a first prize of a 1 Stay and Play package at the Slieve Russell Hotel. Armagh GAA Kelloggs Cúl Camps
Armagh Coaching and Games Development Committee will operate 19 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl camps across the County during the months of July & August, with the one at Shane O’Neill’s taking place from 16th – 20th July from 10.00am – 2.30pm each day.
Registration is now available online and we encourage parents to use this easy and convenient method of registration by visiting www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie
Children attending will receive a backpack, jersey and three-quarter zip top. Costs for the camps are: First child £45, second child £40, third and subsequent children £35 (children attending a second camp, without gear, will be charged £30).

Best Wishes
The club extends its best wishes to Master Campbell on his retirement. He was a great friend of Shane O’Neill’s during his time as principal of St Peter’s Primary School and we as a club are grateful for all his help and assistance down through the years. We hope he has a long and healthy retirement.
Lotto
Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 1, 19, 23 & 32. There were no jackpot winners and 1 x match three winner. The jackpot now stands at £1,400.
Community Walk-Way
Leaving your son or daughter to training....then why not spend your time using our Community Walk-Way around the pitch while your children train. The walk-way is a great facility, in a safe environment and is open to everyone in the community and can be used at any time.
