A fantastic performance from our senior ladies saw they beat Parnell’s of London by three points on Sunday, 3 – 7 to 1 – 10, and in doing so making it through to an historic All-Ireland final.
The pitch was shrouded in thick fog in the lead up to throw-in time but it burnt off sufficiently to allow the game go ahead and what a game it was for the large crowd in attendance. The Shane's hit the front in the opening minute when Aoife McCoy was upended in the square and Aimee Mackin stepped up to take the resulting penalty and great save from the Parnell’s keeper forced the goal bound effort over the bar. An Aimee Mackin free edged the Shane's further ahead and the same player scored a brilliant point from play minutes later to give her side a 0 – 3 to 0 – 0 lead. Two points in a row, one from a free, from Parnell’s had them one arrears but a great individual point from Shauna Grey put the Shane's two up again. A further pointed free from Parnell’s kept them one in arrears before the sides swapped points with Aimee Mackin on target again for the Shane's to keep her side narrowly ahead. With half-time fast approaching Aimee Mackin fired over another point before a great ball from Blaithin Mackin found her sister Aimee in a bit space in front goal and she made no mistake, firing the ball to the Parnell’s net. This late flurry from the Shane’s saw them go into the half-time interval leading by five points, 1 – 6 to 0 – 4.
An early second-half free from Aimee Mackin stretched the Shane’s advantage to six before some great defending resulted in the Shane's powering forward and the ball found its way to Aimee Mackin who made no mistake, driving the ball low to the net. The Shane’s led by nine points at this stage but the contest was far from over as Parnell’s then hit a bit of a purple patch and began to dominate and they scored 1 – 5 without reply to trail by just one point. It really was backs to wall stuff now but the Shane’s defence, who were magnificent over the hour, stood firm and refused to let their opponents get back on level terms. Their breaking up of Parnell’s attacks was superb and one of these defensive efforts saw Shanua Grey turn over the ball which again made its way to Aimee Mackin and having beat her marker for pace she rifled the ball to the roof of the Parnell’s net and give her side an all-important four point advantage. Parnell’s fought hard to get themselves back into the game but again the Shane’s defence stood strong and restricted the London side to just one further point and at the final whistle the Shane’s had done enough to see them through to the All-Ireland final on a score-line of 3 – 7 to 1 – 10.
All roads now lead to Parnell Park on Sunday 4th December where the girls will take on Annaghdown from Galway in the All-Ireland Intermediate final.

Training for the U8s continues this Thursday evening in St Paul’s school from 6.00pm – 7.00pm.
U6s
Training for U6s continues every Wednesday evening at 6.00pm in Bessbrook Community Centre. All boys and girls at this age group are welcome to attend.
Meabh O’Neill’s Camogie
Training for all age groups has now moved indoors for the winter and will take place every Tuesday evening in St Paul's school sports hall from 6.00pm – 7.00pm.
The camogie club are holding a bag pack next Saturday, 26th November in Tesco and volunteers are required to help out on the day. Anyone who can spare an hour or two is asked to contact any committee member; your help would be much appreciated.

Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 8, 13, 19 & 23. There were no jackpot winners and 2 x match three winners. The jackpot now stands at £4500.
