Senior Ladies

Our senior ladies were in action on Thursday night at home to Forkhill. A very strong performance from the entire team saw them claim a very comfortable win. In preparation for their intermediate championship the girls will train on Monday evening at 6.45pm at the field and 6.45pm on Saturday evening also at the field. The intermediate championship game will take on Wednesday 6th July at home against Killeavy with a 7.00pm throw-in.

Minor Boys

The minor boys have a home game against Cullyhanna on Monday evening and all players are asked to meet at the club at 6.30pm.

U16 Girls

Training continues on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm – 7.00pm in the field. There will likely be a league game later in the week, but no details are available yet.

U10s

On Wednesday night our U10s travelled to Newtown and both sides produced a very good enjoyable game of football. The team were back on the road on Saturday to take part in Maghery’s U10 blitz. The Shane’s started with a win against Downpatrick, followed by two narrow defeats against Donaghmore and Clan na Gael. Training continues 6pm Tuesday and Friday evenings at the field.

U8s

Our U8s also travelled to Maghery on Saturday to take part in their annual blitz. The young Shanes won their first five games, beating Doire Tres, Downpatrick, Donaghmore , Pearse Ogs and Clan na Gael. This string of excellent results saw the Shanes through to the cup semi- final where St Peters were the opposition. After a great game of football the scores were level at full-time and extra-time was played. The extra-time format was next score wins and unfortunately for the Shanes us after a few minutes played and with chances at either end it was St Peters who kicked the winning point to progress to the final which they went on to win. Our young players produced great football throughout the day and well done to them and their management team. Training continues as usual Tuesday and Friday evenings at 6.00pm at the field.

U6s

U6 training has now stopped for the summer months and will recommence in September. Well done to all the young players and their mentors for their commitment throughout the year and we hope everyone has a great summer. Last Wednesday evening saw the young Shanes each being presented with a Certificate of Achievement for their endeavour during the past year and we would like to thank Armagh minor footballers Eamon McCabe and Matthew Girvan for presenting them.

Meabh O’Neill’s Camogie

Well done to the U14 camogs who recorded a great win over Cullyhanna last Thursday evening with a very impressive performance. The U12s were in league action away to Collegeland on Saturday and put in good performance to claim a well-deserved win.

Training for all U14, U12, U10 and U8 takes place at the Shane's pitch every Wednesday evening at 6.00pm. All new members aged from 4 and upwards are welcome to attend. Any past or present camogie or hurling players who could spare one hour per week on Wednesday evening to help coach some of our underage camogs is to contact Sandra on 07599640444 - your help would be greatly appreciated.

The camogie club is hosting a car boot sale next Sunday, 26th June from 11.00am – 3.00pm in Shane O’Neill’s club grounds and every second Sunday from then on. Cars and small vans will cost £5.00 whilst large vans will cost £10.00. Everyone is welcome to attend and for further details please contact 07599640444.

The Qube

The club is hosting The Qube as a major fundraising event on Saturday 20th August in the club grounds in conjunction with The Fight On Campaign for Séanín. Anyone wishing to be a competitor on the night and be in with a chance of winning £1500 is asked to contact any committee member and submit their name asap as spaces are filling up quickly. Tickets for the event are also available from any committee member and are priced at £10.00 or €12.00. As this will be a major fundraising venture for the club we are asking all club members to get involved and make it a huge success.

Monthly Meeting

The club’s monthly executive meeting will take place on Monday night at 9.00pm. All committee members and club officers are requested to be in attendance.

Best Wishes

Best wishes to our senior ladies footballer Yasmin Mackin who is currently recovering at home following a nasty car accident during the week.

Lotto

Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 14, 16, 26 & 31. There were no jackpot winners and no match three winners. The jackpot now stands £3450.

Condolences

Everyone at the club would like to offer their sympathies to the family of Denis Lehane who died recently. Denis was the brother of our club members Pauline Lynch and Christina McMenamin and brother-in-law of our vice-chair and senior ladies manager Peter Lynch and club member Paul McMenamin. He was also uncle to our current and former footballers Hannah and Caroline McMenamin and Declan and Kieran Lynch. May he rest in peace.
