The tenth Steven O'Hare Memorial Five a Side football tournament takes place on Thursday November 28th at Newry Sports Centre.
The tournament is an indoor 5-a-side with players donating £10 each which is presented to The Patients Comfort Fund in Daisy Hill Hospital.
The inaugural tournament was held in November 2004.
The O`Hare Family has kindly presented trophies each year and the winners also receive The Steven O`Hare Perpetual Trophy. Steven died at the young age of 23 after a short illness at The Royal Victoria Hospital in May 2004.
Steven was born on the 29th September 1980 and attended St Patrick`s Primary School in Cullyhanna and then onto St Paul`s High School in Bessbrook. He loved his sport and played for Mullaghbawn GFC and was a keen follower of Armagh , as well as a supporter of Celtic and Manchester United.
Steven was into his music and interests were Oasis, The Beatles , John Lennon, and Bob Marley and one of his utmost favourites was Guns n `Roses.
Steven was attending The University of Ulster in Jordanstown and in 2004 was in a placement in the IT Section within Newry and Mourne District Council and was due to return to University in October of that year. He was a quiet but witty young man , and full of enthusiasm for life, and touched the lives of all who knew him.
Steven is sadly missed but will always be remembered by Charlie and Sue, Tracy and Martin and the wide family circle and all his friends and colleagues in his locality and by all his friends in Newry and Mourne District Council.
