Education Minister Paul Givan has officially opened new facilities at Foley Primary School in Ballymacnab. The project comprises of a multi-purpose sports hall, two mobile classrooms, new school central heating system, resurfacing of the school yard and a new perimeter fence with controlled access.
Speaking at the official opening, Paul Givan said: “The investment of over £1.1million has provided new, improved facilities and accommodation for all the school staff and pupils at Foley Primary School. This will enhance the educational experience for everyone attending the school and for future generations.
“The opening of any school buildings and refurbishments is something to be celebrated and improving the schools’ estate remains a key priority for me.”
Newry and Armagh MP Dáire Hughes congratulated the team at Foley Primary School and said the investment will greatly improve school life for pupils and workers alike.
“Particular congratulations are due to your principal, Mr. McCrory, the teaching and support staff, parents and the Board of Governors, chaired by my colleague, Cllr. Bróna Haughey.
“I also know that the wider Ballymacnab community have been steadfast in their support for the school and that support is invaluable.
“The local GAA club, the local Community development association – who shared facilities with the school - and the wider school community provide amazing support to pupils and staff. Maith sibh agus go raibh míle maith agaibh.”
