The County Louth Community has organised several fundraisers following a horrific fire at a house in Omeath last week which left a local family without a home. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident.
The home of Packy and Amanda Walker and their family at Ballinteskin, Omeath was completely destroyed along with its contents in the blaze. The fire happened around lunchtime on Thursday last, 20 February and fire crews from Carlingford and Dundalk attended the scene but were unable to save the house.
Unfortunately the family's house insurance had lapsed and friends have set up a GoFundMe page to help them get back on their feet. To date donations have seen an incredible total of over €42,000.
Also organised in support of the family is 'A night for the Walkers - Rise again' in the Four Seasons, Carlingford on 27 April 2025 at 6pm with live music from One for the Road, The Ramblin String Band and others.
