Eleven candidates have been named for the Newry DEA in the upcoming Local Council Elections with 6 parties represented and one Independent candidate. Four Sinn Féin, 2 SDLP, 1 Alliance, 1 UUP, 1 Aontú, 1 The Workers Party and 1 Independent
The Candidates are:
Doire Finn, SDLP; Nicola Grant, The Workers Party; Valerie Harte, Sinn Féin; Geraldine Kearns Sinn Féin; Cathal King, Sinn Féin; Mariya Krupska, Independent; Sharon Loughran, Aontú; Aidan Mathers, Sinn Féin; Andrew McCracken, Ulster Unionist Party; Michael Savage, SDLP and Helena Young, Alliance.
There are six seats to play for with Sinn Féin getting 3, SDLP 2 and Independent 1 at the last election. Just four of the eleven are sitting Councillors.
The election takes place on Thursday 18 May 2023.
