Write a comment"One of the longest, if not the longest event of this type in the Newry & Mourne area" is how Newry Agricultural Society Chairman Tommy Collins described Newry Show which is in it's 145th year this year.
The Show was launched this week at the Canal Court Hotel in Newry and this year the have a new venue, the show taking place at Newry Rugby Club.
The Show committee thanked Newry Rugby Club and Newry & Mourne District Council for providing an excellent venue on the Hilltown Road, Newry and also Derryleckagh farmers Mr Johnny Murtagh and Mr Leo Sands for their support in our forthcoming Show arrangements.
Chairman Tommy Collins welcomed the guest speakers Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick from Newry & Mourne District Council, local man Mr Ian Marshall New President of Ulster Farmers Union and Jim Harrison ISA President and Robert Wallace NISA Chairman, as well as valued sponsors, local Shows committee, stewards, BMWR Young Farmers and Show friends.

The day includes classes in Childrens, Home Industries, Horticulture, Cattle, Sheep, Poultry, Horses & Ponies, Goats, Dog Show and “Best Garden 2014” Competition. Other competitions on Show day are “Most Appropriately Dressed Lady”, “Glamorous Granny”, “Little Farmer Girl”, “Farmer Boy” and “Bonny Babies”
Show day provides something for everyone including trade stands, craft displays, childrens entertainment, popular funfair, traditional skills and catering facilities to suit everyone. Local traders can also avail of indoor or outdoor space to promote and display their wares.
