Hats off to the 150th Anniversary Newry Show

Newry Agricultural Show certainly celebrated it's 150th Anniversary in style with a spectacular show of livestock, remarkable talent on show in the Home Industries and craft sections, a fantastic display of childrens art and literally something for all the family, all squeezed into an incredibly warm day with deep blue sky and smiling faces galore! With entertainment from Big O and the Commons Silver Band, a bonny baby competion, dog show, sheepdog demonstrations and a magic show, there was not time to be bored for visitors who came from across the country.

The Newry Rugby Club venue saw the show space expanded from last year with more space available. A 150th Anniversary exhibition researched by Michelle Moloney proved extremely popular with photographson display from an 1879 show and assorted prizewinner photographs from more recent times.

Coolermoney Frances owned by Adrian and Graeme Parke, Strabane took the Aberdeen Angus Ulster Championship award at Newry Show. Taking the Interbreed Dairy Championship was Holstein, Bannwater Goldilocks Sheba, owned by Andrew Magowan, Rathfriland. Interbreed Beef Champion was Harestone Jackson, a Charolais owned by Joe Wilson, Rathfriland. A Texel from Naomi Ardis and Ryan O'Hare from Cabra took the Interbreed Sheep Championship while goat Corrinshego Heidi, owned by Arthur Mullen from Newry took the goat championship.

Following on from the 2017 All Ireland Aberdeen Angus Championship Final in Newry, this years Show was the venue for the Aberdeen Angus Ulster Championship and Coolermoney Frances, a cow owned by Adrian and Graeme Parke, Strabane took the top spot with principal sponsors ABP on hand to make the award.

The Supreme Commercial Champion was owned by Robert Miller, Moneymore.
