Not content with one year under their belts in their 'Dip for PIPS' the adventurous duo of Caroline Anderson and Gillian Fitzpatrick are back for 2023 at a freezing cold sea or river near you! Last year they took an outdoor dip every day for the month of January and this year they are once again making a big splash at their fundraising drive for PIPS Hope and Support.
Today they encouraged some of their friends to join in the madness and around 9.30 this morning all made their way down the steps at Sandy Bottom in Warrenpoint and without hesitation splashed in to the choppy waters of Carlingford Lough. Obviously this writer would have joined them only for the fact that unfortunately he had to record the moment! This morning was day 22 of 31 so they are well on their way to getting the award for the hardiest people in County Down.
The dips are in aid of PIPS Hope and Support in Newry to help them provide immediate therapy to anyone with suicidal thoughts, high levels of anxiety, poor mental health, or bereaved by suicide.
You can support the two girls in one of two ways - one, jump into the freezing cold sea along with them or two, the easier option, contribute a few pounds from the comport of your warm cosy living room at pipshopeandsupport
