Write a commentThe Academy Hair and Beauty School Newry have organised a ‘Charity Blow Dry Week’ to raise vital funds and support local charity PIPS Hope and Support. Located on Mill Street in Newry the Academy trains young people aged 16-24 with a new skill set, in hair and beauty.
The Academy will facilitate the week-long event with their trainees for members of the public from today (Monday 2 July) until Thursday 5th July from 9:30am – 12:00pm and 1:00 – 3:30pm daily.
There is no need to arrange your appointment as the academy will be offering a first come, first served basis. There has been a minimum of £5.00 donation set by the students.
Finuola McAuley the Academy’s manager said “We are delighted that we have been able to facilitate this week long charity event to raise funds for PIPS Hope and Support. As a group, the students and staff wanted to support local grassroots charities as our end of year fundraisers. Many of our students have been directly affected by suicide over the years and wanted to arrange an event which could both highlight local suicide prevention charities and raise much needed funds to ensure the service is available to the local community.”
Finuola continued by saying “We look forward to the week ahead and hope as many local people drop by to support our young people’s efforts and our chosen charity. No appointment is necessary as we will be operating a first come, first served basis each day. Academy and Hair and Beauty Training School want to thank all those in advance for their support and our trainees for their commitment and enthusiasm in supporting local charities.”
Padraig Harte, PIPS Hope and Support Community Fundraiser thanked Finuola, the students and staff of Academy Hair and Beauty Training School. Padraig said – “We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has agreed to raise funds for PIPS Hope and Support and to highlight the charity. The young people will selflessly be raising the funds to allow us to continue providing a service to support people with issues relating to suicide, mental & emotional well-being and trauma and to provide education programmes to people on how they can help reduce the risk of suicide in our greater community. We wish all the team the very best in their fundraiser and look forward to supporting them in the week ahead.”
