Write a commentNewry, Mourne and Down Council have taken the decision to close all their forest and country parks and Council operated beach facilities with immediate effect.
They are requesting that members of the public do not visit or try to enter these sites.
The closures are part of the Council’s ongoing coronavirus response and this decision will continue to be reviewed in line with Public Health Agency (PHA) guidance.
A Council spokesperson said "We appeal to everyone to follow PHA advice and strictly adhere to Social Distancing measures in all public places. Please stay at least two metres away from other people.
"We all have a role to play in the battle against coronavirus and Social Distancing is an essential part of slowing the spread of COVID-19 and saving lives. Thank you for your co-operation at this time."
