Some have made the difficult decision close completely for the forseeable future with Maya Cafe on Monaghan Street joining them today while others continue to provide a take-away or delivery service for as long as they can.
Premises that previously served customers on site can't now continue to operate in the same way after government advice to close was announced on Friday last.
Courtney's on The Mall in Newry are open for carry outs and deliver from 7am - 3pm. Proprietor Pat Courtney is taking things one day at a time with the potential for circumstances to literally change by the hour as government directives are updated.
The facility has been busy over the weekend. The restaurant supplies a local fold with meals so staff need to be on the premises anyway so a take away facility is an obvious move. You can contact Courtney's on 028 302 51900 to place your order.
McCooey's on Monaghan Street are also taking it day by day opening on a take-away basis from a hatch at the side of the restaurant. They are serving coffees, teas, scones, sweet treats, fries and baps. A queue system is in place on the pavement to ensure people adhere to social distancing.
The Shelbourne on Hill Street remain open for takeaway coffee, sandwiches, dinners and bakery goods via a hatch. You should phone ahead for all orders on 028 302 62002.
The Sunray on Monaghan Street also is open at present for take-away and bakery goods with one person in the shop at a time.
