Write a commentMembers of the Antisocial Behaviour Working group of Newry and Mourne Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) recently formally launched the PCSP Action Plan to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour alongside a flier providing support for those impacted by antisocial behaviour.
Many types of antisocial behaviour such as excessive noise, nuisance behaviour, graffiti etc are not criminal offences but can have an effect on an individual’s quality of life. The flier outlines which agency can help with a particular issue and provides the number to call.
The Policing and Community Safety Partnership aims to support communities to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour and support victims. It has allocated a total of £102,234 to fund action under the following themes; Rural Crime, Domestic Violence, Alcohol and Night Time Economy, Older People, Antisocial Behaviour and Drugs.
The funding includes £47,000 which has been made available to community organisations in the form of grants to support their work. Funded initiatives include a range of Halloween activities in Hilltown, Warrenpoint, Kilkeel, Meigh and Longstone. In addition, a number of diversionary activities to engage young people and divert them from antisocial behaviour have also been funded across the District.
The PCSP will also undertake a number of engagement activities to build a relationship between the community, the PSNI and other statutory agencies such as the NIFRS, NIHE, Youth Justice Agency, SELB, Probation NI, and the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.
