Staff at Apple Tree Dental Care, Newry, are grinning from ear to ear this month as they are named finalists for ‘Dental Practice of the Year’ and ‘Hygienist of the Year’ for staff member Zara McKibbin in the prestigious NI Healthcare Awards.
The award nomination double whammy comes as the practice celebrates a decade ‘making Newry smile’.
These Awards – now in their 17th year –recognise outstanding skills, achievements and innovations in the medical, pharmaceutical and dental industry and are considered a bench mark of excellence, attracting hundreds of entries from across Northern Ireland.

Katrina McKevitt, Practice partner, Apple Tree Dental Care said: “Zara holds a number of previous awards for her services at Apple Tree so I’d be delighted for her to maintain her ‘crown’ and be named Best Hygienist in NI. From a company point of view, to win ‘Practice of the Year 2016’ would be a wonderful way to begin a year of celebration as we mark 10 years in business in Newry.”
Apple Tree, in Newry’s Old Gasworks, employs a team of 8, and provides general dentistry and implant dentistry including sedation service for nervous patients. Previous awards for the company include Best Implant Smile 2012, Dr Conor McEnhill (UK Aesthetic Dentistry Awards) and Best Dental Care Professional for Hygienist Zara Mc Kibbin (Irish Dentistry Awards 2014).
The Apple Tree team are the only local dental practice to be listed in this year’s NI Healthcare Awards. The winner of Dental Practice of the Year will be announced at a Gala event in the Europa Hotel at the end of February.
