Write a commentNewry, Mourne and Down Council have applied for planning permission for a new car and coach park at Slieve Gullion Forest Park which it's planned would help alleviate on-going parking difficulties at the site at busy periods throughout the year.
Local residents have been campaigning for a solution to parking issues which made it difficult for them to access their homes.
The new car park would be built approximately 32m north east of Slieve Gullion Courtyard buildings.
It is planned that the new facility would provide approximately 52 additional car parking spaces and accommodate relocation of coach parking from the existing car park.
The application also would involve replacing the existing coach parking in the present car park with car parking to provide another 32 car spaces.
