Bobby Browne hs underwent his stem cell transplant on Thursday at the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle, England. Bobby was admitted to the hospital 18 July following the sourcing of a donor. A search for a suitable donor had been going on for many weeks.
His parents put up an update on Facebook yesterday "Just a wee update to say that Bobby underwent his transplant yesterday. Please continue to keep him in your prayers for the weeks ahead while he waits for his new cells to come in so that the side effects will be minimal."
The family know they couldn't have got to this stage without Bobby's donor "who is a complete stranger but has an amazing heart to do this act of kindness."
The added "We also couldn't have got to this stage without the love and support from our families, friends and all communities."
"Bobby still has a lot of recovering to do in the weeks and months ahead so thank you all for your kind words, support and prayers"
