Newry councillor Charlie Casey has spoken out about recent stone throwing incidents at pensioners homes in Main Avenue, Derrybeg saying It's wrong that local people are having to live in fear and unacceptable that vulnerable people in the community are being singled out for this" anti-community activity."

Cllr Casey has asked for those involved to stop before someone is hurt. Incidents have resulted in windows being smashed and window frames damaged.
Speaking about the incidents Cllr Casey said "I am appealing to the young people involved in these stone-throwing incidents to cease immediately before someone is injured.
"We are approaching the bright evenings and residents are fearful that these acts of vandalism will only get worse if they are not stopped now."
