For any photographers out there, couldn't sleep last night so started counting Cameras instead of sheep i.e. all those cameras I Columba O'Hare have used taking pics around Newry and elsewhere from the year dot. So many gadgets, just don't tell anyone the price paid for them!
Only 18 so probably have forgotten about a few but we'll add them if we remember.
Can any of you remember your new "toys" and how you justified them to 'the boss'?
Kodak Instamatic 126 - My first camera from my sister Breege I think, had those wonderful flash cubes!
Halina A1 Twin lens reflex - borrowed this from my dad who took some pics for the Armagh Observer in his time. Took great pics in the 80's but for some reason focus seemed out in later years.
Kodak Pocket A1 - Won this one in a competition
Fed 4L - Great Russian rangefinder but pretty darn heavy
Praktica MTL3 - First foray into Praktica, grand but nothing exciting.
Ricoh 500G - great compact rangefinder camera, don't remember using it much though for some reason.
Minox 35ML - top quality 35mm extremely compact camera, the dinkiest camera ever, for some reason though I could never get 'top quality' pics out of it!
Praktia BC1 - Now it was starting to get interesting with automatic this and that.
Rolei 35LED - Beautiful small camera. Had 2 over the years including one bought for 1 Dollar in Australia.
Nikon FM2 - my company camera, all manual and great to use
Contax 159mm - My favourite camera ever - so far, so smooth to use. felt you were driving a Porsche but then again they were designed by them. Couldn't afford to buy lenses for it though. Think they might onoy have made one of these though cos I never saw anyone else with one!
Canon T90 - A brilliant innovative camera, with a motor wind!!!!
Fuji GS 6x7 - Quality, bought this in Australia for a lot of money, took some great photos and sold it before I got home for a lot of money.
Canon EOS 1 - My first autofocus system camera
Canon D30 - First digital, only 3 million pixels but I've printed 4ft prints from it!
Canon 20D - sound camera couldn't really fault apart from all that dust on the sensor
Canon EOS 1D Mark 3 - now we're sucking diesel, well that was until those 'focusing' issues clouded my mind.
Canon 5D Mark 2 - wonderful camera but iffy to focus quick
