Newry city councilor, Charlie Casey has met with the manager of The Quays Newry to discuss ongoing parking problems in the Drumalane area. Speaking about the meeting Cllr Casey said:“The ongoing parking problem that residents are having is now becoming a health and safety issue.
Residents are facing serious problems, especially pedestrians or people who have mobility issues who have to walk onto the road as the footpath is blocked. I fear that someone will get seriously hurt if this is not sorted out."

Cllr Casey continued;
“I recently met with the manager of The Quays Shopping Centre in Newry to discuss the parking problems. The meeting was constructive as we both share concerns about the issue.
Although there is a massive amount of parking spaces within the confines of the shopping Centre, people are still parking on the Drumalane Road and Fathom line. This is regrettable and motorists should use the Centre Parking space available
"It now has got to a stage that the Roads and Enforcement Agencies really need to take appropriate action against those motorists who continually obstruct pedestrians and who have no thought or care for residents of this area.”
