Work is progressing steadily on the much needed Catherine Street resurfacing scheme in Newry. A substantial amount of the street has already been resurfaced with the road closed to traffic currently and traffic diverted.
Traffic travelling towards Canal Street will be diverted via Edward Street, Merchants Quay and Canal Street. Traffic travelling towards Monaghan Street will be diverted via Canal Street, New Street, Trevor Hill - Kildare Street, Monaghan Street and Lower Catherine Street.
The work is taking place in Catherine Street, Lower Catherine Street, Corry Square and Edward Street. Works include resurfacing of the carriageway, upgrading of road drainage and realignment of kerbs and crossing points.
The work is planned to be completed by 31 August 2023 although this is dependent on progress to date and favourable weather conditions.
