An amazing sum of £7,000 has been raised by Bessbrook man Andrew Moore who recently celebrated his 60th birthday by hosting a charity concert in Bessbrook Community Centre. Andrew, who attends the Laurels Day Centre in Newry and who himself has suffered additional recent health issues brought together a large number of family and friends who were welcomed by Andrew himself and treated all to delicious food and entertainment. On arrival, everyone was entertained by the Camlough Brass and Reed Band under the conductor Tom McCabe. Andrew is also a member of the band and indeed joined them to play his bass drum.

The Wee man from Strabane Hugo Duncan was in attendance and along with local man Pat McGinn welcomed on stage various entertainers including: Andrew McMurdie, Big O, Kerry Fearon, Kevin Kearney, Stephen McAnulty, Sharon and Jamie Larkin and Tom O’Rourke.   Music was also provided for the entertainers by the wonderful Country Harmony.

In lieu of presents, Andrew chose to assist two charities very close to him - SS Peter & Paul’s Church Restoration and Refurbishment Campaign and the Chest, Heart and Stroke Association.

Andrew would like to sincerely thank everyone who donated so generously to both charities.
