The former Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Councillor John McArdle, hosted a reception in the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre, at which he distributed the proceeds of the 2013 Mayor’s Charity Ball.
Councillor McArdle said the Ball had been a magnificent success with over 300 people attending what proved to be a very enjoyable and worthwhile event for local charities.
He thanked the main sponsors, Tesco, for their generous sponsorship of the event and also the Canal Court Hotel. He also thanked the many associate sponsors whose contribution undoubtedly helped to swell the proceeds and also all those who had helped in the organization of the event.
Councillor McArdle presented cheques to his chosen charities which were Macmillan Cancer Support, Samaritans, RNLI, Marie Curie Cancer, Co-operation Ireland and Newry Maritime Association.
