An amazing total of £85,327.38 was raised in the 2019 collection in what was his 28th annual sit out.
Despite his aches and pains John, who turned 78 this year, sat out on Hill Street in his trailer for 10 days on the run up to Christmas, while his team of volunteers collected at other locations such as Fiveways, The Quays and B&Q Newry.
John is a great ambassador for the Southern Area Hospice and has raised almost £1.7 million to date for their services.
John also held a Christmas concert in Newry Town Hall during the week of his Sit Out which compliments this total.
