The company that owns The Quays Shopping Centre in Newry has went into administration.

On 19 March 2026, the High Court in Belfast formally placed UGP Newry Limited into administration,

UGP Newry Limited with a registered office at The Quays bought the Quays portfolio in February 2024 for around £17m.

The Quays has struggled in recent months to fill vacant units. One of its largest anchor tenants Debenhams closed their doors in May 2021 and their unit has remained vacant ever since.

Two representatives of Ernst & Young in Belfast have been appointed as Administrator by the court to take over the running of the company and it will be up to them to decide what happens next.
