Council Chairperson celebrates International Women's Day

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Valerie Harte hosted an afternoon event in the Canal Court Hotel Newry on Friday 8 March to celebrate International Women’s Day under this year’s theme of ‘Inspire Inclusion’.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The event saw an exciting line-up of ‘Influential Voices’ share their journeys and experiences and offer insights into championing inclusion in their own lives, in both professional and personal capacities. Speakers included: Sarah Jane Campbell, Service Manager from The Well Kilkeel; Niamh Quin, founder of charity Advocacy VSV; Daria Yakovenko and host Lynette Fay.

The proceeds of the event will be donated to the Chairperson's Chosen Charities - Down Right Brilliant, Life Change Changes Lives, Newry All Stars, Sound Friends and Well Lane Warriors.
