Write a commentFollowing the Northern Ireland Executive's recent announcement of a new lockdown from 26 December, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has been considering the impact on its leisure services.
Restrictions will apply to leisure services as follows:
- Newry, Kilkeel and Down Leisure Centres will close from 9pm Wednesday 23 December 2020
- St Colman’s Sports Complex (including Athletics Track and 3G pitch) will close from 9pm Wednesday 23 December 2020
- All Council outdoor sports facilities (All grass and artificial pitches, tennis courts and bowling facilities) will close from Saturday 26 December 2020
- All sports events (such as football matches) will be cancelled from Saturday 26 December 2020.
The following facilities and services will continue to REMAIN CLOSED:
- Ballymote Sport and Wellbeing Centre and the Newcastle Centre
- All Council pavilions and changing rooms
- All classes, sports halls and multi-purpose rooms and soft play in all leisure and sports facilities
- All recreational swimming and group swimming tuition.
Play Parks and outdoor spaces
Play Parks and outdoor spaces will remain open but should not be used after 8pm each day from Saturday 26 December 2020.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council appreciates that this is a very worrying time for its customers and all members will be given the appropriate discounts or extensions to their memberships.
