The date for the annual McKvr Lurgan Park Fun Run for Newry based Evora Hospice Care has been announced and will take place on Sunday 1 March 2026 at 11am. The event will take place on Sunday 1 March 2026 at 11am. It will feature 5k and 10k distances and is expected to attract over 600 participants, with all proceeds going directly to the hospice.
The hugely popular and well supported event, which was established in 2014, has now raised over £84,000. A special feature of the Fun Run is that all event costs and supplies are covered by sponsors, which means 100% of runner donations goes to the hospice. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, bespoke medal, running number, refreshments and snacks on the day.
David Wilson, from the Organising Committee, said the group was delighted to be now in its 12th year and to be supporting the Hospice again under its new name. "We work closely with the Lurgan Friends of Hospice Group, headed up by Deirdre Breen and it was amazing that the fun run helped them break the £1 million fundraising total earlier this year. It was a fantastic milestone from them to reach after 20 plus years of constant charity work," he said. He added that the group was grateful that McKvr Sports was supporting the event once again, having been involved since 2014 and providing the T-shirts, medals and prizes as well as support with online registration and pack collection in store before the event.
Padraic McKeever, from McKvr, said the company was delighted to be once again sponsoring the Lurgan Park Fun Run. "It is a pleasure to get involved in such a great cause, and our staff look forward to it every year. We have such a vibrant running community across county Armagh and beyond who support this event."
