iúr FM presenters Gabby Curran and Donagh McKeown are running a complete Marathon in aid of the Southern Area Hospice.
... Ok it's not a sports run rather they are more sedately presenting a music marathon of 26 hours 20 minutes (Marathon is 26 miles 465 yds) live from the Buttercrane Shopping Centre, Easter Monday, in order to raise funds and awareness for the Southern Area Hospice. Donagh is taking part in the walk, reporting back to the radio station from Spain, and is hoping to raise a target of at least £1,600 for the centre.
The Spanish Walk 2013 iúrathon April 1st 2013 Live on iúr FM from the Buttercrane Shopping Centre from 10am
With the event being broken into hours, itʼs hoped to attract sponsorship from local businesses and supporters. The target is to raise at least £50 per hour
The Hospice offers service to individuals and families from all walks of life and has long been recognized as a beacon for caring. This may be your chance to give something back to help support their services.
The event gets under way at 10, with the two, quiet, retiring types hoping to encourage, while entertain the listeners either at home or in the centre, from the recently established iúr FM studio within the centre. The Hospice will have collection boxes on site to take any donations. Cheques, payable to the Southern Area Hospice are equally and most graciously accepted
Please come along and join in the fun. Watch two grown men make fools of themselves in a controlled and relatively safe environment. We would love to see you on the day. Otherwise we hope you can listen around the city on 101.4 FM or through the internet at www.iurfm.com
Put the date into your diary now and start the piggy bank collection too!
