Write a commentThe annual Eariwig Community Festival begins tonight starting with a massive parade from North Street Car Park in Newry at 7pm.
The Festival takes place from the 25th-27th July in the Church Street/Manse areas of Newry with the aim of celebrating the sense of pride, community spirit and diversity that enriches the locality.
Visitors to the festival will enjoy a broad range of family friendly activities including the fancy dress parade, best costume competition, lion dancing, Bollywood dancing, Irish dancing, multicultural workshops, road safety road show, tug of war, live music and a family fun day.
The Mayor of Newry and Mourne, Councillor Daire Hughes said "We are delighted to support the annual Eariwig Festival. It is a great opportunity for the whole family to come out and enjoy the hospitality and good humour which the Church Street/Manse area of Newry is renowned for. The organising committee has put together a fantastic programme of activities which will help everyone feel welcome and part of the local community"
The event is managed by the Southern Partnership’s Challenge of Change priority supported by the European Union’s PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
The Festival also received funding from the Community Festival Fund administered by Newry and Mourne District Council.
