Local fundraiser Paddy Duffy is hosting his last charity event later this month after supporting local events for over 30 years. The Derrymore 5 Miler will be as he says himself his "Swan Song". Formerly working for Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Duffy has been involved for many years with Newry Gateway Club and Special Olympics Ireland.

"I have decided that it’s finally time to bow out. I have been involved with Countless Events during the past 30 or so years and have enjoyed helping so many worthwhile Charities and good causes. It’s time now to hand over the Mantle to my good friend, Bootsy [Colm Fearon] who I Feel has a great expertise in creating, developing and organising events and is more than willing to help others." he explained
Duffy added "I have enjoyed being involved and hope through my efforts I have helped in some small way for Charities and Good Causes to enable them to carry out their own wonderful Voluntary Work"
The Derrymore 5 Miler and family 3K Walk takes place on Saturday 20th May with all proceeds going to the Gateway Clubs 50th Anniversary Celebration and Special Olympics Ireland, World Games in Berlin next Month. It will be a great Training Event for those Registered to compete in the Newry City Half Marathon two weeks later
Registration is available from 9 am on the morning of the Event with £10 for the 5 Miler Run and £5 for the 3 K Family Walk. All the activity will take place in the beautiful grounds of Derrymore House with 3 loops for the 5 miler.
