Write a commentA tender has been issued by Newry, Mourne and Down Council for phase three of public realm work in Newry City Centre. The works will build on prior schemes in 2012 and 2015.
The Lower Hill Street Public Realm Scheme involves improvement works along sections of Hill Street and John Mitchell Place and is expected to take in O'Hagan Street, Mill Street and St Colman's Park.
It will include the provision of new natural stone paving, kerbing, street lighting, street furniture, signage and tree planting.
Describing the project the tender document states "The approach taken should reflect the unique character of Newry City Centre and enhance the work already undertaken by council in the City."
It is thought that the work would commence on site in April 2019 and be complete by March 2020.
