A planning permission application has been made for a change of use of the former Murphy's Electrical store on Lower Catherine Street in Newry to a place of worship.

The application from Newry Baptist Church would see the well known shop which has been closed for several months converted to to a place of worship with ancillary facilities including activity space, meeting rooms and a creche.
Newry Baptist Church was formed in 1889 and the Church holds regular Bible study and prayer meetings at the Baptist Cente in Downshire Place and Sunday services in WIN Business Park.
