Neighbourhood Officers in Newry have seized fireworks during a planned search in the Ringclare Road area and are warning that illegal firework use will not be tolerated.
Almost 300 illegal fireworks were seized during the search on Tuesday, 4 October.
Police also discovered a shebeen on the premises and a large quantity of alcohol (between 200 and 300) were seized with a quantity of cigarettes.
Sergeant Gracey, Newry NPT, said: "Our message is clear - you must have a licence to purchase, sell or use fireworks. If we are made aware of illegal fireworks we will take action and remove illegal and unsafe items from the community.
"I would ask the community to continue supporting us. If you observe fireworks being used, sold or bought without a licence please contact us at Ardmore on 0845 600 8000."
