Write a commentClanmil Housing Association has welcomed the first tenants to its new Dobsons Way family housing development in Bessbrook.
The first 11 homes in the 62 unit scheme have been handed over to tenants and a further 13 families will be moving into their new houses this week. The remaining homes have all been allocated to families on the housing waiting list and will be handed over to them in phases over the summer.
The homes have been built to the Code for Sustainable Homes high energy efficiency standard and to the Lifetime Homes and Secured by Design standards, which ensure added security for tenants and flexibility of adaptation if required at a later date.
Clare McCarty, Chief Executive of Clanmil Housing said “This scheme provides 62 much needed homes in an area with high demand for quality affordable housing and we are really pleased to see the first tenants moving into their lovely new homes. We wish them, and everyone who will live here, many happy years at Dobsons Way.”
Clare added: “We are very grateful to the local community and their political representatives who have supported us in delivering this scheme. We look forward to continuing to work with them to help our tenants settle into their new homes and new community and to ensure that Dobsons Way is a great place to live.”
Lorna Brown has just moved into her new home at Dobsons Way with her sons Conor and Dane. Lorna said “We are absolutely delighted with our lovely new home. It’s really bright and modern and is just perfect for us, particularly for Conor with his wheelchair.
“I’ve had a chance to meet most of my new neighbours and we’re all really excited about our new homes. We just can’t wait to get settled in.”
The scheme’s name, Dobsons Way, which reflects the site’s location close to Dobson’s Pond, was suggested by St Paul’s High school pupils Chea McArdle and Christian Mathews.
