A new local book highlighting the maritime history of Newry City entitled Newry, Water, Ships and Town is being launched by Newry Maritime Association in Newry Library next Thursday the 26th of June at 7.30pm.
The book follows on from the recent unveiling of the Newry Docker sculpture at the Albert Basin and it is derived entirely from voluntary effort between the Public and Voluntary sectors.
The lead partners in the project, Drumalane/Quayside Close Community Association and Newry Maritime Association successfully obtained funding from the Department of Social Development and Newry and Mourne District Council to fulfil the project.
