Write a commentCrotlieve Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick has called for speed restrictions to be implemented at the Saval Complex junction of the Coalpit Road in Newry following concerns from local residents.
Commenting on the issue Cllr Fitzpatrick said “I would like to see speed restrictions implemented at the junction at the Saval Complex and the Coalpit Road in Newry. Local residents have told me they are concerned that so many of the cars who are travelling along the road are doing so at such a high speed.
“The entrance to Saval GAA club is on this road, and there are concerns that someone who is entering or exiting the club could get hurt by the high speed of cars along the road."
Cllr Fitzpatrick has contacted the PSNI and Transport NI and added "The PSNI have indicated that they will undertake speed check. I hope that Transport NI will make an assessment and that speed restrictions will be implemented.”
